Richard D. McGraw, President, CEO and Founder
Rick is a successful entrepreneur and an active investor in the cleantech sector. He has been founding, operating and developing businesses both private and public in a variety of industries for more than 35 years.

Vitran Corporation (TSX/Nasdaq), which he co-founded twenty-five years ago, and now chairs, generates over US$700 million in revenue with facilities across North America and is one of the largest trucking and logistics organizations based in Canada.

ZENN Motors (TSXV) ZENN, a Canadian manufacturer of electric vehicles which he helped bring public and staff in January 2007 via a CPC that he organized, now has a market capitalization of over CDN$150 million. It has raised over $30 million and has a very exciting future in the global race to build the first regular-speed electric car.

Catch the Wind (TSXV) is a U.S.-based company with proprietary equipment software for measuring forward wind speed. Rick assisted the going public process by providing the CPC company, and is on the Board of Directors. Catch the Wind completed an $18 million financing with support from strategic institutional investors based in Europe, the U.S. and Canada.

Parkway Automotive Investments is a 30-year-old, 100%-owned holding company that controls two of the largest and most successful Honda car dealerships in Canada along with associated real estate. Rick started his first Honda dealership in 1977 when the leading environmental automotive company was in its early stages.

He has been a resident of Toronto, Canada for 35 years and has been continuously active with non profit organizations throughout his career, such as Junior Achievement, Canadian Business Hall of Fame, and for the past 17 years, with the Muskoka Hotel and Navigation Company which operates steamships in the Muskoka region of Ontario, Canada.

His success is the result of the ability to be very strategic and accurately assess and evaluate many different business models, management teams and strategic plans. This extensive business experience brings oversight to Greenrock and enables him to contribute in selection of both public and private candidates for investment in the fund.

Peter Hofstra Ph.D CFA, Vice President and Founding Portfolio Manager
Dr. Peter Hofstra is uniquely qualified to manage investments in clean technology. His strong scientific, business and financial experience has shaped his discerning investment style. Peter utilizes his academic background to understand the technology and employs his career experience to thoroughly assess the business model when considering investment opportunities.

In 1994 Peter completed his doctorate in Engineering Physics at McMaster University. His Ph.D. accompanies a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Guelph.

After completion of his B.Sc. in 1988, Peter worked as a research chemist for Xerox Canada. While only at Xerox for a year, before enrolling in graduate studies, Peter co-authored two patents and one scientific publication.

On completion of his doctoral studies, in 1994, Peter joined an early stage, pre-IPO, technology company. The company developed and manufactured a solid state flat panel display technology. During the eight years Peter was with the company, the firm delivered product to the high-end market (military and aviation) as well as licensed patented technology to large volume display manufacturers. The company went public in 1996 and subsequently achieved positive cash flow on the strength of the licensing program. Peter’s position with the company was that of vice president of research and development, reporting directly to the CEO, responsible for display manufacturing, product development and the licensing program. He received several patents, published in scientific journals and presented at trade shows and scientific conferences. He also participated in financial road shows to help fund the company.

In 2002 Peter was presented with the opportunity to join an investment firm as a technology analyst. During his tenure with the firm, Peter completed the CFA program (2005) as well as the CIS Derivatives Fundamentals Course and the Options Licensing Course. He became a portfolio manager in May of 2006 and was granted the lead manager position with a Global Science and Technology Fund as well as co-manager responsibilities with a U.S. equity fund. The investment approach utilized was that of running focusing portfolios (25 holdings or less) using bottoms up research. The funds were long only and Peter wrote options to enhance fund returns. Peter spent six years with the firm, prior to joining Greenrock as the founding portfolio manager.

Peter’s business experience combined with his financial career and academic background, as well as being the prodigy of a career environmental biologist (27 years of teaching, research and consulting with the University of Guelph), has distinctly qualified Peter to investigate and invest in companies focused on improving humankind’s interactions with the environment.
